Coming to South Africa, music production education from Abbey Road Studios, London

Charlotte Rochecouste graduated from Abbey Road Institute Melbourne in 2017 and is now an Assistant Engineer at Studios 301. In a recent Alumni interview, Charlotte said « If you have a good can-do attitude… then you can achieve anything » . That attitude has shone through and supported her advances at 301. She works directly with ARIA award winner Simon Cohen as assistant in his vocal chain, and consequently vocal engineering with hiphop heavyweight L Fresh the Lion. She also collaborates with local Sydney artists as a writer, producer and engineer. Charlotte is using her platform to encourage other young people in her field to create a strong and safe community.

When she’s not collaborating with incredible Australian artists, she’s working on her own material as a singer/songwriter. She records her stunning voice under the alias Charlotte Adelle and publishes the videos on Youtube and Instagram. Phoenix Manson is an artist/music producer from Melbourne. He makes Hip Hop and R&B music that infuses an old school vibe with the modern new wave sound. Having graduated at the end of 2017, Phoenix has since released WAVELENGTH – EP, with toplining by Charlotte Adelle as a result. Phoenix was also an integral part of the Beat Collective Committee. Most noteworthy, he ran the fortnightly, live streaming show on TRNSMT. He also performed at festivals and venues including Electric Relaxation, Surf Coast Arts Festival, Beat Collective Sessions and High Bias. Having moved from Melbourne to Berlin to start building a network in Europe, Phoenix is now exploring the electronic music scene. As a result of this, he is working with rappers and producing beats for their projects.

Phoenix’s creativity in unstoppable, and consequently most of his time is spent in the studio. He is constantly making new music for his own project or for other singers/rappers. Furthermore, Ableton Live is his weapon of choice. Stefan Roscovan is the first Amsterdam student graduating with distinction.

Stefan was born in a family of musicians in a small country called Moldova. Before moving to Amsterdam and studying at Abbey Road Institute, he had been taking part at numerous singing competitions, achieving over 20 winning trophies and touring on 3 continents in countries including USA, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, Russia and Iraq. In 2016 he ended up being a semi-finalist at “The Voice” in Romania which started his learning about music production and engineering.

At the moment, Stefan is known as an independent singer, songwriter, music producer, engineer and multi-instrumentalist based in London. He is owner of the record label « Reflective Records » and works on freelance projects in mainly Amsterdam, London and Los Angeles.

Janice Wong graduated in 2018 with an Advanced Diploma of Music Production and Sound Engineering from Abbey Road Institute Amsterdam. She now works as assistant audio engineer at Red Bull Studios Amsterdam. As a freelancer, Janice also performs with singer-songwriters, bands & DJs, composes for advertisements/games/films, works as (online) session cellist (for live performances & remote recordings), arranges strings, records string loops/samples and is busy producing her own music for her latest concept: live cello meditation. She creates cello soundtracks for different moods and emotions, using a loop machine to create low drones and sweeping cello melodies on top. Her debut album, titled Cello Music for Meditation is out now on Spotify, iTunes, Bandcamp and all major digital channels.

After graduating in 2018, Fabian Brummel went straight to Galaxy Studios in Belgium for an intensive internship programme. Before finishing as an intern, he was already offered a permanent position at Galaxy as a full time mix engineer and sound editor. Fabian is currently working mainly in postproduction for some big movie projects.
In his own time he loves composing and is working on a couple of new music projects.

« From the moment I entered Abbey Road Institute Amsterdam it took me a total of 5 minutes to realise that I came to the right place. It has been one of the best experiences, meeting new friends for life from all over the world. You learn so, so much in just 1 year in an incredible environment, which has to be felt to understand. »

Following his graduation from our London school Dominic Parry has been working as a full-time apprentice at leading audio equipment rental company Britannia Row Productions. Founded by Pink Floyd, Britannia Row has grown to become a global leader providing equipment for the London Olympics, Foo Fighters, Mumford & Sons and The Cure‘s tour.  Dominic assisted in the 2019 Brit Awards as a stage technician for numerous performing acts including James Bay, Calvin Harris, Hugh Jackman, and P!NK. He has additionally worked on Andrea Bocelli’s world tour and the MTV European Music Awards.  Dominic’s apprenticeship scheme at Britannia Row Productions continued on his training from ARI. He worked for several months in each of the companies departments (Maintenance, Speakers, Cables, Rigging, RF, Digital, Warehouse Manager Assistant & Prep) whilst sitting two 15 week training courses; Live Sound fundamentals and Live Sound Intermediate. Alongside his day work he has worked on gigs at The Roundhouse and the centennial WW1 memorial service.
